Travel Nurse RN - Cath Lab

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) Registered Nurse (RN) with specialized open-heart recovery training to provide high-acuity care for post-cardiac surgery patients. This role requires expertise in balloon pumps, open-heart recovery, and advanced cardiovascular interventions.

The CVICU RN will deliver intensive, comprehensive care for patients before and/or after cardiovascular surgery, including those recovering from CABG, valve replacements, heart transplants, and other critical cardiac procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide advanced critical care for post-cardiac surgery patients, ensuring hemodynamic stability.
• Monitor and manage intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP), vasoactive medications, ventilators, chest tubes, and other life-support equipment.
• Perform continuous cardiac monitoring, interpret EKGs, and respond to emergency arrhythmias.
• Assist in open-heart recovery, closely monitoring patients during the immediate post-operative phase.
• Administer IV medications, blood products, and advanced cardiovascular therapies.
• Collaborate with cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons, anesthesiologists, and multidisciplinary teams for optimal patient outcomes.
• Educate patients and families about postoperative care, medications, and lifestyle modifications.
• Participate in rapid response and code blue situations, ensuring timely and effective interventions.

Requirements:

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) – Preferred
• Previous experience in CVICU, open-heart recovery, or cardiac critical care – Required

Licenses & Certifications:

• Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice – Required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) / Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – Required
• Cardiac Surgery Certification (CSC) – Preferred
• Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) Certification – Preferred
