Job Description

Are you a dessert aficionado with a passion for creating sweet masterpieces? Aramark at the Tampa Bay Convention Center is seeking a Pastry Chef who will lead our pastry team in crafting imaginative and delicious desserts that will leave our customers wanting more.

• The Pastry Chef will coordinate, plan, participate, and supervise the production, preparation and presentation of baked goods, desserts, pastries, and confectionary for a catered events, restaurant and retail food outlets.
• The Pastry Chef will also step in and provide managerial support to cold side production in the main kitchen in the absence of the Executive Chef and Executive Sous Chef.

Job Responsibilities

• Understand and appreciate the subtleties of flavor pairings and different tastes and have a good aesthetic sense for food and pastry presentation.
• Experience with menu and recipe development; stay on top of current trends; creative.
• Execute and oversee the production of cold dishes, including salads, canapés, charcuterie boards, cold appetizers, and other specialty items as per the event?s requirements
• Provide a safe, sanitary work environment, which conforms to all standards and regulations and achieves profitable, competitive quality products.
• Supervise and participate in the production, preparation, and presentation of all baked goods and pastries for unit as assigned by the Aramark Executive Chef and/or Executive Sous Chef to ensure that a consistent quality product is produced which conforms to all established standards.
• Ability to understand and control a P&L (e.g. controlling labor costs, controlling food cost).
• Interview, schedule, train, develop, empower, coach and counsel, resolve problems, provide open communication, recommend discipline as appropriate, and perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

• Requires 2-3 years of experience as a Pastry Chef 
• Requires 2-3 years of post-high school education or equivalent experience 
• Culinary degree preferred 
• Requires advanced knowledge of the principles and practices within the food profession-pastry and hot/cold side production 
• Requires experiential knowledge of management of people and/or problems 
• Requires oral, reading and written communication skills 
• Must be able to work an event based schedule which will include evenings, weekends and holidays
